To be eligible for consideration of membership you must have an established residence within the fire district for a minimum of six (6) months prior to applying, and at time of application, be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
There are vacancies for day and night firefighters.
A day firefighter is typically expected to answer calls throughout the daytime hours and attend drills held on Wednesday mornings at 10:00am. This position is typically for men/women who work second or third shifts and are available throughout the daytime hours.
A night firefighter is typically expected to answer calls throughout the evening and attend drills at 7:00pm on Wednesdays. This position is typically for men/women who work a “traditional 9:00am-5:00pm” job and have more availability throughout the evening and overnight hours.

So you have applied, now what?
Typically applications are initially reviewed by the President, Fire Chief, and Board of Fire Commissioners. After references are checked and the background investigation is completed, applicants will receive an interview with the President and the Fire Chief to go over duties and responsibilities of a Cleveland Hill Firefighter. The applicant will then be voted on at the next monthly company meeting and will receive a call to have an initial physical. Shortly thereafter the firefighter will be welcomed into the Cleveland Hill family and begin their endeavor and adventure of a lifetime full of fond memories of volunteering, assisting/aiding the community, and everlasting friendships.
