To be eligible for consideration of membership you must have an established residence within the fire district for a minimum of six months prior to applying and at time of application be at least twenty-one years of age. There is vacancies for day and night firefighters. A day¬†firefighter is typically expected to answer calls throughout the daytime and attend drills held on Wednesday mornings at 10:00am; this position, if you are interested. is typically for men/women who work second of third shifts and more available throughout the day time hours. A night¬†firefighter is typically expected to answer calls throughout the night and attend drills at 7:00pm; this position, if you are interested, is typically for men/women who work a “traditional 9:00am-5:00pm” job and more available throughout the night time hours.

So you have applied, now what?

Typically applications are initially reviewed by the President, Fire Chief and Board of Fire Commissioners. After references are checked and the background investigation is completed applicants will receive a sit down interview with the President and the Fire Chief to go over duties and responsibilities of a Cleveland Hill Firefighter. The applicant will then be voted on at the next monthly meeting and will receive a call to have an initial physical. Shortly thereafter the firefighter will be welcomed into the Cleveland Hill family and begin their endeavor and adventure of a lifetime full of fond memories of volunteering, assisting/aiding the community and everlasting friendships.
